Mule's Hole 02:12
tangled hair and dirty clothes midday bowls of cheerios today i'm planting marigolds in buckets in the yard time is passing this i know by the numbers on the stereo saint Lucinda get me through til i can lock my eye on you dreamt last night we had a wedding for our friendship was deserving of that tender celebrating picnicking and merrymaking one day soon we'll rest our bones on the warming river stones box of wine, a case of miller roasted chicken, toes in the water
2.
Candelabra 03:30
there's nowhere to hide i guess that's a good thing i'm stuck with myself and i think i've been dreaming the river is frozen so we can't go swimming not to mention the heartbreak that my cynicism is protecting can't sit here no more so i'm going driving sometimes it's like living sometimes it's more like surviving but at the go-mart in Flatwoods beneath the full moon i was filling the tank, i was thinking of you i was playing The Cure on cassette in the van and i still know the way like the back of my hand can't sit here no more so i'm coming to meet ya going out in the woods holding a candelabra i saw a meteor and i think it's an omen if the future's a door someone's holding it open
3.
Anywhere 02:50
the show is packed and it is dark i know exactly where you are in the room i feel your occasional gaze i hide in the hum of this place it don't even matter what the band plays i'm not here to hear the music anyways i feel your occasional gaze i'm high on the hum of this place it could be anywhere as long as the crowd is there
4.
Moonpool 04:06
i feel my parallel lives moving alongside of me we have a dance to do out by the moonpool when it gets cold again will we smoke our cigs in the house here i am, drunk on coors lite again pretending we are at the beach
5.
How Nice 04:10
leave the under-eye shadows so we can relate don't wait, the haze overtakes you if you hesitate will you ever be ready for your own advice well how nice, how sweet to be incomplete next to you i don't want to go back to the way that I was who knew the harm love could do to some suckers like us but i'm gonna be better, just you wait and see it's no mystery that i burned all the bridges are you always proud of your hardest decisions i won't be no dog with my teeth in the stitches are you always proud of your hardest decisions and how nice, how sweet to be incomplete
6.
2:30am sitting on the dam watching the moon go down river raising steam feeling just like a dream wearing my bridesmaid's gown lightning bugs are blinking i'm just sitting here thinking wishing you were around guess it's just our luck keep on ending up far away from each other postcards on the fridge just can't scratch that itch to be around one another when is it gonna be time when is it gonna feel right when are you gonna be around sitting here with me in the middle of the night watching the moon go down this is what i have to do to summon you now find someplace where no one can hear me close my eyes and reach out to you in my mind til i can almost feel you near me
7.
wake up early cause i know you're coming to pick me up make the coffee we take with us down to the flea market it's saturday you're golden eighteen and nothing were beholden to then we day drink up by the water tower while listening to the gospel radio hour and i'm crazy and i'm crazy for you your car stalls out at the stoplight right in the center of town nothing we got seems to run right but we don't let that slow us down 'cause if i make it at all i will make it with you
8.
take it from me you don't have to go if you don't want to i will cover for you every time and after a while people stop asking what you've been up to they will stop waiting for you all the time saturday night there is a show that i'm not gonna go to but i'm still pretending to make up my mind if you get drunk when you get drunk and you're leaving the party you don't have to find me and tell me goodnight but when you get home if you get home can i get you to call me i just want to know that you made it alright some fucking kids broke both the hands off the statue of jesus up where you used to kill some of my time there is a meteor shower tonight in case you like watching bright lights burning out
9.
i see you in your car drinking beer outside your grandfather's maryland funeral i don't know what to say but i know the weather's perfect for driving with the windows down and screaming all the way all that practice that you get being tired and feeling sad will it pay off in the end i would be your safety net if i thought you needed one do you remember how we got here it was harder than we thought it still burns me up to see you grinning in the parking lot smoking cigarettes and saying my name the thought of losing you it drives me insane
10.
Do-Over 07:09
there's a good place in me that bad things come from all that light that you see comes from you and reflects off of me like the moon in the spring, swelling stream, freezing rain greenbrier, bonfire, do-over little things singing sweet, coming up from the mud under snow, understood at the edge of the woods i want to be as good as the person i can tell that you see when you're looking at me
